The Department of Financial and Management Engineering (DFME) was founded in 2000 under PD.83 (Government Gazette 72 A ', 10.03.2000), it offers a five-year engineering study programme and is part of the Engineering School of the University of the Aegean.
DFME graduates can become registered members in the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). The Department's mission is the training of students and the promotion of Financial and Management Engineering discipline. DFME graduates comprehend, study and undertake research in the fields of management and financial engineering using advanced quantitative methods of engineering sciences.
The strategic objectives of the Department are in line with the University's objectives and include:
- The provision of high-quality education and the upgrading of students' performance giving emphasis to the continuous improvement of the Undergraduate Studies Programme and its harmonization with modern scientific and technological advancements.
- The production of a high-quality research in accordance with international standards and the utilization of the results for the benefit of society.
- The promotion of national and international collaborations to strengthen the Department's extroversion at the local, national and international level.
- The establishment of links with the labor market and the engagement with the alumni of the Department.
- The promotion of academic excellence and innovation, through the encouragement and reward of students and faculty members for their achievements.
- The development of the Departments' Human Resources and the improvement of its physical and electronic infrastructures.
The Quality Assurance Policy of the Department focuses on the support for academic excellence, the continuous monitoring of the Undergraduate Curriculum, and the achievement of the Department's strategic goals through tangible processes and actions of continuous development and improvement.
The Quality Assurance procedures are subject to regular inspection and review by the Department's Quality Assurance Committee (OMEA), in collaboration with faculty members and the Quality Assurance Unit of the University (MODIP).
The Department is committed to the implementation of quality policy standards. It sets, implements and monitors the quality objectives, it determines the means, actions and ways to achieve them and implements the appropriate internal and external quality procedures aiming at continuous quality improvement.
The Quality Assurance Policy has been approved by the Department's General Assembly at its 4th (extraordinary) /10.04.2019 meeting following extensive consultation and it is published on the Department's official website.
