Description
This is an introductory module to financial analysis. Through the combined teaching of theorical concepts and practical examples, students are familiarized with financial securities, capital markets and state-of-the-art approaches to various types of financial decision-making problems, including investment appraisal, asset pricing, portfolio selection and risk management.

• Interest rate theory, time value of money, return on investment, discounting
• Interest and compounding
• Loan analysis
Pricing of assets with fixed payoffs
• Cash flow streams, investment appraisal criteria
• Valuation of bonds and other fixed-income securities
Analysis and management of financial risks
• Introduction to financial risk, types of financial risks (market, credit, operational, legal)
• Risk management strategies, diversification vs hedging, arbitrage
