Dr. Vasilis Zeimpekis is appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Financial and Management Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of the Aegean. He is also the Director of the Design, Operations and Production Systems (DeoPSys) research lab that conducts reseach in the areas of management science and systems engineering. He is a member of the National Council for Development and Competitiveness in Logistics and member of the Scientific Board of the Institute for Retail Consumer Goods Research. In the past he served as an external consultant to the United Nations (UNECE) and the World Bank on transport projects in a worldwide level. He also participated in the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Logistics Association (EEL) for 15 consecutive years including 4 years as Chairman of the Board. He has been a visiting professor at the Hellenic Open University's Faculty of Business Administration (DEO11) since 2013 and has taught in the past in various Universities at undergraduate and postgraduate level. In 2024 Dr. Zeimpekis was selected as one of the most important figures in the world who are shaping the future of road transport. This categorization was made by the Brussels-based International Road Transport Union (IRU). Dr. Zeimpekis is active in research on issues related to supply chain management with a focus on logistics and information systems. He has published 7 international edited volumes on Supply Chain Management and has published more than 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences and edited volumes. During the last 22 years he has participated in more than 70 research projects and 400 industrial projects. Vasileios is also a reviewer at the Hellenic General Secretariat of Research & Innovation, as well as at the European Union (DG MOVE). Dr. Zeimpekis holds a BEng(Hons) in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Essex (UK), an MSc in Mobile & Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey (UK) and an MSc in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick (UK). He earned his PhD from the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (GR). Dr. Zeimpekis is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, of the Economic Chamber of Greece, and the European Technical Chamber (FEANI).
